Plan our trip for us.

My wife and I are about to start out on a trek around these United States. We don’t know how far or how long we will go, but we want to see some of the sights our great land has to offer.

We’re planning on Marfa, Alpine and the Big Bend Country.  Probably up into New Mexico and the San Juan De Christo Mountains. I want to hit Four Corners and the Grand Canyon and who knows, further to the west will dip our toes in the Pacific Ocean.  Not out of the question to head north to Oregon and Washington, too. We love oceans and mountains.  We also like lakes and forest. We would prefer the blue highways…if you guys remember that book.  Small local roads instead of the giant interstate.

We may go east as well. We got plenty of time and the lease on the car doesn’t run out until next February.

So here’s the deal.  You got a wonderful place we should see?  Send us a note on my Facebook page and tell us where it is and why we should see it.  Nothing is too obscure or weird for us…so long as it is near good chicken fried steak or grilled pork chops. (Michelle just made me add salads and fresh vegetables, too.)

When we go East…I want to cross the fairy at Sisterville, WV.  That means a ride through Ohio and Pennsylvania. North Carolina is one of my favorite states, so maybe you know something there, too. I‘d love to see the Harley Davidson plant in Milwaukee …  but there’s one in PA as well… so you see nothing is too big or too little for us to do.

Where ever it is, jot us a note on Facebook and give us a destination. We’ll take plenty of photos along the way and post them as we go.  So you can travel vicariously through America with us…and you can save gas while we burn it for you.

Keep those cards and letters coming.  We leave in four weeks.

I think I’ll call this, Travels with Sadie.  Screw Steinbeck.

  1. After you see the Grand Canyon, drop down to Flagstaff and see the Lowell Observatory. After Flagstaff, pick a route to I10 in the LA area. Go to the end of I10 in Santa Monica and turn right onto PCH (Hwy 1). Go north and enjoy. Check out the Mullin Museum in Oxnard (French Art Deco cars). Don't forget Sam Simeon. Continue north until you are tired. Turn right somewhere and go to Yellowstone - Tetons - Jackson. Go east across the north of Wyoming. See Devil's Tower, go into S Dakota for Deadwood, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse. From there, well, pick a direction and keep on truckin'. From Martin.
